My Summer to Fall Wash n Twist Out Routine!

I haven’t done one of these in a while. Forgive me. I’ve changed my routine and hair products so much I thought it would be a good idea to see what’s new and old. Let’s get started.

Step 1: Prep and Detangle.

I usually prepare my hair for battle by sectioning and adding water to make my strands more manageable. I don’t pre-poo because I think its a waste of time and there’s already enough oils and products in my hair. So when I detangle, I use my brown wide tooth comb (photo above) from end to root. Gentle now. Don’t rush the process.

Step 2: Cleanse and Condition.

Once I unravel those braids, it’s time to wash. I learned my hair needs to be fully cleansed with a shampoo or else product buildup becomes an issue. I use my everything product (because I use it for everything), my black soap. I do one quick rinse and slap on some Organix Moroccan Argan Creme Conditioner to my strands. This was my first time using this product and it smells amazing and a little goes a long way. This is when I begin a second quick detangling session with my with tooth shower comb. I rake the comb and my magic fingers through my fully coated strands to make sure I don’t leave shed hair.

Step 3: Deep Condition.

I tell anyone who is transitioning or currently natural: Deep Condition! Don’t leave out of your house everyday without having one day out of a month or week dedicated to deep conditioning. It’s the circle of hair. I deep condition once a week and when I do I use the  Lustrasilk Curl Max Deep Penetrating Conditioner. This has been my holy grail and sometimes it’s very hard to find this product. Moving on, once I distribute this product throughout my hair I use two plastic shower caps and satin bonnets to retain heat. I leave the product in for a full hour. Oh! I almost forgot, instead of doing a hot oil treatment separately, I added one to my deep conditioner. Any oil will do.

Step Four: Rinse and Style.

Almost done! Once I rinse out my deep conditioner, my hair is squeaky clean and ready for more products. I separate my hair in sections again and begin laying products. First, I add the Cantu Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioner, then the Carols Daughter Hair Milk, and lastly the Camille Rose Naturals Butter Gel. All of these products are moisturizing and keeps my hair quenched. Once all products are penetrating my hair, I twist. That’s it.

Morning after results!

All four steps take me about 2 1/2 hours. Especially if one of my favorite shows are coming on. If you would like a review of one or more hair products I used let me know! I’m a busy bee yet I make sure my hair is healthy, moisturized, and strong. I make my hair routine a part of my lifestyle. I hope you do the same.
